The PlayStation 5 is one of the most technologically advanced gaming consoles currently on the market.
While this might lead you to believe that connecting a Bluetooth speaker is simple, I discovered that it is a little more difficult than you might think.
It is possible, but you will not be able to connect the speaker directly to your PS5 unless you purchase an additional accessory.
Is it possible to connect a PlayStation 5 to a Bluetooth speaker?
Connecting a Bluetooth speaker to your PlayStation 5 is not possible directly, but it is possible if you are willing to purchase an additional accessory. Your PS5 will require the use of a wired Bluetooth adapter to function properly. After that, the adapter can be connected to a speaker, allowing the audio to be played through the speaker.
It is possible to connect a Bluetooth speaker to your PlayStation 5, but only in a convoluted manner.
I’ll assist you in connecting these accessories so that the audio from your video game is played through your speaker rather than your television.
The First Steps
Despite the fact that the PS5 is a technologically advanced device and that Bluetooth technology is widely used, I was surprised to learn that you cannot directly connect a Bluetooth speaker to your PS5.
Perhaps this will be addressed at some point in the future, but for the time being, it can only be done indirectly.
Before you can connect your console and speaker, you’ll need to make sure you have the right equipment.
A PlayStation 5 and a Bluetooth speaker are obviously required, but what else do you require?
In addition, a Bluetooth adapter and a USB cable will be required.
The PlayStation 5 is equipped with two USB-A ports and two USB-C ports.
For the most part, it’s best to use an adapter that connects to a USB-C port because it tends to work better and maintain a more stable connection.
Having said that, USB-A is perfectly acceptable as well.
Bluetooth Speakers that are recommended
How do you know which Bluetooth speakers to use with your PlayStation 5? That is entirely dependent on your financial situation and the resources you have available.
We have also reviewed a large number of Bluetooth speakers and have determined which are the best on the market.
Some of our favourites are as follows:
- JBL Boombox 2 is a portable audio system.
- JBL Flip 5 is a portable audio system.
- OontZ Angle 3 is a 3D model.
- Wireless Bluetooth Speaker by COMISO
- Sony SRS-XB43 (Sony SRS-XB43)
More information can be found in the reviews.
The Bluetooth adapter should allow you to connect any existing speaker that you may already have with your PS5 through the use of your PS5’s Bluetooth capabilities.
Getting the Devices Connected
After you’ve purchased your Bluetooth adapter and speaker, you’ll need to connect all of your devices to ensure that they work properly.
There are a few more steps involved than simply plugging everything in, but I promise you that it is not that difficult to complete.
Just keep following along and you’ll figure it out.
If anything goes wrong, I’ll include some troubleshooting steps in the section below.
Connect the Adapter to the computer.
Insert the adapter into
The PS5’s USB port.
The PS5 is equipped with USB ports on both the front and back of the device.
While using a front port is more convenient, both will function just as well as each other. It is simply pushed into the port until it is completely connected.
The majority of Bluetooth adapters will alert you if they are in use by flashing their lights.
This is typically accomplished through the use of a blinking light or a green indicator.
However, each adapter is unique in this regard, so keep this in mind when shopping.
Getting the Adapter to Work
Start by turning on the PS5 and going into the Settings menu.
This can be accomplished by pressing the Up arrow on the main menu and selecting the Settings icon.
It will have the appearance of a toolbox and should be located to the right of the icons.
Select “Accessories” from the drop-down menu, and the Bluetooth adapter should be visible there.
If this is the case, then unplug the adapter and reconnect it.
Go to “General” and select the “Bluetooth Accessories” option from the drop-down menu.
The adapter will be visible in this location.
If you choose to pair the adapter with the PS5, it will establish a complete connection with the console.
Connect the Speaker and the Adapter together.
It will now be necessary to connect the speaker and adapter together.
While you can complete this task later, it is preferable to do so now to ensure that everything functions properly.
The instructions for each speaker vary, so it is best to double-check the speaker’s instructions before proceeding.
There are a few standard approaches to taking care of this.
Some speakers are equipped with apps.
If that’s the case, you’ll most likely want to pair the devices with your smartphone.
If this is not the case, there is typically a button that is dedicated to finding and connecting to adapters.
No matter which option you choose, this should only take a few seconds to complete.
Audio Output Configuration
You will now need to configure the PS5’s audio output so that it makes use of the Bluetooth speaker that was previously connected.
Choose whether or not to use your adapter as the default audio device from the Settings menu in Windows.
Select “Sound Settings” from the drop-down menu under “Settings.” Select “Audio Output,” then “Output Device,” and then the adapter from the drop-down menu.
The audio for your game will be played through the speaker as a result of this.
I recommend that you test it at this point by launching any game or application and ensuring that the sound works properly.
Troubleshooting Procedures
Even if you follow all of the steps, things may not always turn out the way you expect them to.
I’ll assist you in troubleshooting any common issues that may arise during the course of the process. Simply follow the steps outlined above, and you should be fine.
Check the Adapter’s functionality.
Considering that the adapter serves as a link between the console and the speaker, it is the first thing you should check.
Check to see if the device is recognised by your computer after connecting the adapter.
This is often the quickest and most straightforward method of determining whether or not an adapter can connect to a device.
If you have an older adapter, it is possible that it will not work with the PS5.
At the same time, this is a problem that is rarely encountered
If the adapter does not function properly, you may need to purchase a new one.
After making sure you didn’t miss any steps, try the adapter again with the PS5. If it works with the PS4 but not with the PS5, then try the adapter again with the PS5.
Also, you may want to try another USB port to see if another one performs better than the current one.
Pairing of Speakers
Another common problem is the inability to connect the speaker and the adapter.
As previously stated, every speaker is unique, and as a result, I am unable to provide comprehensive instructions for this.
If you’re having trouble with your PS5, I recommend testing the pair from a different device at the same time.
Connect the adapter to your computer or another dependable device using the included USB cable.
Furthermore, you should carefully read the pairing instructions to ensure that the speaker is properly connected to the adapter.
Check to see if the speaker is working by playing some music or other media through it.
Keep an eye out for updates.
Some features will not function properly if your PS5 is out of date and needs to be updated.
This includes the ability to connect with Bluetooth-enabled accessories.
Check to see if there have been any new developments.
If this is the case, allow the PS5 to complete its update before attempting again. Many of the issues you may be experiencing will be resolved as a result of this.
