How to Use Your iPhone to Control an iPad

It’s simple to control your iPad with your iPhone if you connect both devices to the same WiFi network and use the same Apple ID. The steps to do so are outlined below.

Step 1: Make sure all of your devices are on the same page.

To begin, make sure your iPad and iPhone are both signed in to the same Apple ID account. This should already be the case if you’re the only person who uses your gadgets. If you have family members who use separate Apple IDs to log into the same devices, you may need to update them.

You should also make sure that your iPad and iPhone are connected to the same WiFi network. Go to settings to do so. Next to the “Wi-Fi” area, it will display the WiFi name. Select your favorite WiFi network if the WiFi on the devices differs.

Step 3: Connect your iPad to your computer

Set your iPad aside for now; the final step will be completed on your iPhone.

A clickable “Switches” line appears beneath “Switch Control.” It will tell you how many additional devices you have if you have any from the past.

In either scenario, go to “Switches” and select “Device” before selecting “Use Other Device.”

An iPad icon should show after that. After that, click “Connect.” You may now use your iPhone to operate your iPad.

How to Stop Controlling Your iPad with Your iPhone

You’re not going to want to use your iPhone to control your iPad indefinitely. So, to put an end to it, just follow these simple instructions.

  1. In your iPhone’s settings, go to “Switch Control.”

  2. Select “Device” from the drop-down menu.

  3. “Stop Using Devices” is the option.

You’ll regain control of your iPhone by doing so.

This configuration, on the other hand, allows you to easily switch back to using your iPhone to manage your iPad.

Completely removing the control

You can revert the process by turning off the switch control if you only wish to operate your iPad using your iPhone once.

Go to the settings app to do so. Return to “Accessibility” and look for the switch control. Toggle the toggle bar to the off position.

Tada! With that, you’ve regained total, independent authority over your iPad and iPhone.

Advantages of Using Your iPhone to Control Your iPad

Having a disability that makes it difficult to get around is one of the main benefits of managing your iPad with your iPhone.

If you receive a notification on your iPad but it’s across the room, you can check on it with your iPhone if it’s close by.

If your iPad is set up for home controls (like a washing machine or light settings) but your iPhone isn’t, you can access it without opening your iPad.

Playing music on your iPad is another perk of managing your iPad with your iPhone. You may alter the song or volume on your iPad using your iPhone.

However, unless you have a physical impairment, you are unlikely to rely on this control feature substantially. Because both devices must be connected to the same WiFi network, they’ll be near to you.

Remote iPad Control versus. Screen Sharing

It’s natural to mix up controlling your iPad with controlling your iPhone and screen sharing. This, on the other hand, is not the same thing.

When you use your iPhone to control your iPad, you’re the only one who has access to the data. Screen sharing, on the other hand, allows others to view your device and, depending on your settings, even make changes to it.

If you want to share your iPad screen from a distance, you can do so. You will, however, need to follow a different set of instructions.

In fact, if you have problems configuring your iPhone to operate your iPad, Apple support may be able to assist you by remotely entering into both devices via screen sharing.

Can You Use Other Devices to Control Your iPad?

Yes, you can use almost any Apple device to operate your iPad, including

  • Mac
  • iPod Touch

If you want to use a desktop or laptop to operate your iPad, keep in mind that Macs have a distinct setup.

If you like the idea, you can even control your iPad from a computer. To do so, you’ll need to join up with a screen-mirroring third-party software.

Are you ready to use your iPhone to control your iPad?

At first, the actions outlined here may appear boring. However, once you’ve gotten the hang of operating your iPad with your iPhone, it’ll be second nature to you.

To operate your iPad with your iPhone, you’ll need to use the same Apple ID and WiFi network on both devices. As a result, if you remember something you need on your iPad while on a business trip with your iPhone, this isn’t a good alternative.

Nonetheless, there are times when using your iPhone to control your iPad makes life easier. I hope you find this feature as entertaining as I do.
