How to Find Lost or Stolen AirPod Cases [SOLUTION]

No matter which version of the AirPods you rock in your ears, every person who has ever used AirPods has experienced the anxiety that comes along with the possibility of losing either the diminutive AirPods themselves or the carrying case.

It is essential to have the case because it not only provides the most convenient way to store your AirPods, but it also allows you to charge them if the battery dies while you are listening to the soundtrack to “Hamilton.”

However, if you do end up misplacing the case (with or without the AirPods inside), you can use your iPhone or a web browser to look for some of the ways that you can try to locate it.

Where to Look for AirPod Cases That Have Been Misplaced or Stolen

Enabling the Find My app as soon as you get your AirPods is the simplest way to ensure that you will be able to track down your lost AirPods if you misplace them. If you misplace them and then recall that you skipped the installation of this app, you will have to resort to more conventional means to locate them.

Even though it can be properly configured, the Find My app still has some limitations when it comes to finding just the right case.

There are essentially three different ways in which you could end up without either your AirPods+ or your case. While you’re listening to your AirPods, you run the risk of A losing the case that they came in.

  1. You also run the risk of misplacing the case that contains the AirPods while they are still inside.

Last but not least, you could lose both of the AirPods but keep the case in your possession.

If you have misplaced your AirPods, we will walk you through the steps necessary to retrieve them using the Find My app.

The quickest path to discovery

If you happen to misplace your AirPods while they are not in their case, you should hopefully have the least amount of trouble locating them.

Even if they are outside of the case, they are still able to produce sound, so even though it sounds strange, it shakes out that way.

You can locate your AirPods by opening the Find My app on your phone, navigating to the Devices tab, and then selecting them.

You have the option to play a sound that, assuming the AirPods are charged and within Bluetooth range, will hopefully lead you to your cherished AirPods if they are misplaced while they are being used.

You have the option of playing the sound through either one of your AirPods, both of them, or just the right or left one.

But What If They’re Outside the Range of the Bluetooth?

You could find yourself outside of Bluetooth range if your AirPods fell out of your bag or pocket and you continued your journey without them even though you knew they were missing.

If this occurs, you can access the Maps feature by going to Find My > Devices > AirPods.

This will show you the most recent location that was associated with your AirPods, and it will also generate directions to assist you in retracing your steps.

You will be able to play that sound again to assist you in finding them once you have gotten close enough to the location where they were last seen, presuming that they are not in the case.

We can only hope that you did not misplace them in a place that is meant to be a peaceful sanctuary, such as a church or a library; nobody likes being around people who play loud music or other distracting sounds in those settings.

However, if you find your AirPods, it will be enough of a motivation for you to push through the embarrassment.

Simply offer an apology and wave.

Anyone who witnesses you picking up your misplaced Apple product will immediately comprehend the situation.

Everything, including the kitchen sink, has disappeared. It appears that the AirPods were misplaced inside the case.

You will still be able to use the Find My AirPods app even if the case is covering your AirPods.

Because, as was previously mentioned, the sound will not play when the AirPods are stored in the case, so you will have no choice but to rely entirely on your eyes instead of your ears.

When you hear that little click when you pop them back into their slot, you know that whatever you were listening to isn’t going to keep playing and further drain the battery. This makes sense from a functional standpoint.

On the other hand, it’s not the best when it comes to looking for them.

However, because of this, the Find My app is necessary for locating not only your AirPods but also any other Apple devices that you might have.

Your AirPods got into a fight with each other and are now located in different locations.

If you have both of your AirPods in their case at the same time, you shouldn’t have any problems with this.

You need only proceed through the same steps as outlined above if you only have access to one of the two and are unable to locate the other.

If, on the other hand, you discovered that both AirPods have been misplaced in separate locations but that you still have the case, you will need to carry out a few additional steps.

When you find the first of the missing AirPods, place it back in its case and tell it a story before putting it to bed.

After everything has been tucked away, you will need to refresh the map to view the new location of the other AirPod, which will have been updated.

Take note of the instructions and reassemble the band as soon as possible.

Do you still have the case for your AirPods if you still have them?

It’s possible that while you’re jamming out, the case slips out of your back pocket or backpack and is lost forever. This is the worst possible scenario that could result in the recovery of your lost item.

Since the case does not contain the same technology as the AirPods, the earphones inside do not come with their Bluetooth device. You are not tracking the case in any of the situations described above. You’ve been focusing solely on the AirPods all this time.

Therefore, if you’ve only misplaced the case, the Find My app won’t be able to help you locate your belongings directly.

On the other hand, if you have any luck at all, you should be able to open the Find My app and select your AirPods from the list.

If the list that appears next to your AirPods has a green dot, this indicates that the case for your AirPods is not far away.

If there isn’t, then either your case is too far away or the battery has completely run out.

The Matter Is Now Closed. Do I Need To Get A New Pair Of AirPods?

You do not need our permission to take advantage of the fact that you have lost your case to decide to purchase newer AirPods; in fact, you do not even need our permission to do so.

But if that is outside of your price range, you can always purchase a new case for your AirPods.

Contact the Apple Store using the serial number found on your AirPods, and they will sell you a replacement charging case.

If you are using AirPods Pro, you will need to shell out $99 for a replacement case.

A replacement case for any other model of AirPods will set you back 59 dollars.

If you have AppleCare+, the price drops to $29 for each incident otherwise payable.

It might surprise you to learn that a brand new pair of AirPods Pro costs $249.

Since the case for the AirPods 2 costs $129 and the case for the AirPods 3 costs $179, you will save money by simply replacing the case. This is especially true if you have AppleCare+.
