The overall picture
I would like to provide a quick summary of the HP Pavilion X360’s specifications before diving deeper into the review:
A dual-core Intel Celeron N2820 processor clocked at 2.13GHz
with Windows 10 as the operating system
500GB hard drive running at 5400 pm
8GB of RAM available for upgrade
Multitouch Display: 11.6-inch 1366×768
display with Intel HD graphics
and 802.11b/g/n wireless networking
Bluetooth: Bluetooth version 4.0
Touchpad Dimensions: 3.75″ x 2.2″
Two colors are available for the HP Pavilion X360: silver and red. Silver is a cool, classy color, whereas red is adorable and catches the eye.
The display area of the laptop can be folded back fully, from a closed position to a fully opened position, and then rotated a full 360 degrees to rest on its own back, hence the name.
They are referred to as the laptop, tent, tablet, and stand-by HP. The screen will be in desktop mode as soon as the lid is opened, and will switch to tent mode as soon as the lid and the base are touching a surface, perfect for watching videos without any obstructions.
In the tablet mode, your device is completely closed upon its back, while in the stand mode, the keyboard is placed downward and you are only able to use the display.
A 500GB HDD is installed along with 4GB RAM in a 22mm thin, 3.2-pound device. Despite its small size and lightweight, you would easily be able to transport the 11.6-inch laptop around with you without notice, while going about your daily activities without feeling bothered by its weight.
The laptop has an 11.6-inch 1366×768 multi-touch display screen. As a result, it is very effective at drawing attention to details in whatever you are viewing. In terms of color quality and vividness, however, it is a little disappointing.
Both the laptop and tablet modes of the display perform well. However, it does not have much of a viewing angle to offer, which may be problematic when it is in tablet mode and being used while resting on a surface.
To change modes, for example, switching from laptop mode to tablet mode, if you run Windows 10, the computer will prompt you to choose whether or not to enable tablet mode. The X360 will reorient itself in about two seconds following this selection. I recommend checking out another laptop we recently reviewed, the Acer Spin 3, it’s worth checking out!
1. Slots and ports
As for the device’s ports and connectors, it has two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, an HDMI port, an expandable Ethernet port, an SD card slot, a volume rocker on the edge for tablet mode, a Kensington lock port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
2. Internet camera
As it is a budget laptop, don’t get too excited about the 720p webcam. Despite being able to capture color and simple movements well, the webcam captures grainy and noisy images. Consider purchasing a stand-alone external webcam if you will be using this laptop for a lot of remote conferencing or skyping.
3. Touchpad and keyboard.
In terms of ergonomic design, the island keyboard measures 97% of its full size. The keys of this keyboard have a comfortable 1.5mm travel and provide good feedback, making it a very usable device. Typing is error-free with this keyboard.
Also, HP took some steps forward when it came to designing the touchpad. Almost completely noiseless, it is responsive, has an acceptable level of friction, and is responsive. A variety of input gestures can be handled seamlessly and efficiently.
HP budget laptops are notorious for being preloaded with bloatware, and this model is no different. It is wise to immediately uninstall any software you no longer require as soon as possible to reduce the burden on its processing power.
Please be aware: do not expect much from the X360 in terms of performance. The Intel Celeron N2820 processor, clocked at 2.13 GHz, is disappointing. This machine is therefore not suitable for performing extremely demanding tasks. On the other hand, it is a breeze to accomplish simple tasks, such as browsing, sending an email, and editing a few Word documents. Play no games on this computer, unless they are simple games such as Cut the Rope or Microsoft Solitaire.
Video and audio are available.
This computer features powerful Beats Audio speakers. Beats Audio speakers have almost become an industry standard for HP these days. They were willing to spend money on it, as evidenced by the X360. The speakers deliver impressive sound quality, allowing you to easily fill a room with sound. The sound is also crisp and clear, which gives the impression of being produced by a much higher-end device.
When a computer has this low processing power, you might expect that it would at least result in longer battery life. I regret to inform you that this is not the case with the X360. The battery life on this laptop is only six hours on continuous use, which is far less than other similar laptops.
- Construction is excellent, and it appears to be of high quality
- The price is very competitive
- The keyboard is very large
- several factors contribute to its ease of use: the keyboard, the touchpad, and the touchscreen are all very intuitive.
- The performance was below expectations. You may be disappointed if you are impatient when handling certain tasks with the X360.
- It is not as impressive when used as a tablet as it is when used as a laptop. While viewing angles are not great, and when folded up, it can become quite bulky.
If you intend not to load it with difficult tasks, the HP Pavilion X360 is the ideal laptop for you. Since it is compact and lightweight, you can easily carry it around with you. In addition to being completely functional, it is also extremely cheap, very well built, and makes a perfect laptop companion for homes. This is the laptop that can function as both a laptop and a tablet.
