Almost every Bluetooth speaker now has a built-in smart assistant. With Alexa, Amazon has a firm grasp on the market.
You almost certainly already have an Alexa device in your home.
Did you know it may be used to create a home audio system? You certainly can.
Home audio can use old and modern speakers as a multi-room sound system thanks to features like wireless networking and Amazon’s Alexa.
How Do I Make Alexa Work With Multiple Bluetooth Speakers?
Using the equivalent Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, or Echo Show speakers is the simplest way to connect numerous Bluetooth speakers to Alexa.
To connect numerous Bluetooth speakers from different brands to your Alexa, you’ll need specific equipment, although you can use the 3.5mm jack to connect other speakers.
Dual-channel audio is already available to Samsung Galaxy S8 and above users.
This allows them to utilize the Alexa app while simultaneously connecting and using two Bluetooth audio devices.
However, there is a possibility of audio lag between speakers.
The Alexa app, which controls these Amazon speakers, includes a multiroom speaker feature.
The multiroom feature of Amazon Alexa allows you to listen to music in different rooms of your house without experiencing any lag.
It’s a capable solution for installing wireless home speakers.
You may use it to manage your speakers by giving them unique names and grouping them.
For voice instructions, I would recommend keeping things basic.
You’ll need a few of the following devices to complete this guide:
- Echo (Amazon)
- The Amazon Echo Dot is a smart speaker that works with Alexa
- Amazon Echo Show (Amazon Echo Show)
- Input from Amazon Echo
The room hubs and speakers for your multiroom speaker system will be these devices.
Any additional speakers you add to your system will be connected to one of these speakers. As a result, plan.
Pick get a few Dots to cover the house if you only need one speaker in each room.
If you want to connect more speakers to your Alexa multiroom setup, you’ll also need some 3.5mm auxiliary cords.
If you can find a nice auxiliary multi-port splitter or adapter, you can attach as many speakers as you like.
Just keep in mind that if too many speakers are connected to one splitter, the sound quality may degrade over time.
You should also keep in mind that Amazon Alexa’s Support Center is available to you.
Using Amazon Echo to Connect Multiple Speakers
Before you use the Alexa app to organize your multiroom music, make sure all of your speakers are connected and recognized by the Alexa app.
If you’re only going to use Amazon Echo devices, you’ll only need to read the section below under “Pairing Your Echo to the Alexa App.”
If you want to get more creative with your home audio system configuration, I’ll show you how to connect several speakers to your Amazon speakers, whether wireless or not.
This way, you may use all of your Bluetooth speakers and entertainment equipment that you’ve accumulated through time.
How to Connect Your Echo to the Alexa App
The simplest solution is to use the Amazon Echo devices right now.
All you’ll need is a good home network for them to connect to, as well as a smart device that can run the Alexa app.
Go ahead and install the Alexa app on your smartphone from your favorite app store.
After that, we’ll connect your device.
Switch to Setup Mode.
When you initially put in your Echo, it should instantly turn on and go into setup mode.
The light ring around the Echo’s edge should alternate between blue and orange.
If the orange light does not appear, you must instruct your device to enter setup mode.
To accomplish so, hold down the Action button for a few seconds.
Alexa should announce “Now in setup mode” after around five seconds.
Use your computer, smartphone, or tablet to complete the task.
Now go to the device where the Alex app was installed.
It can be used on a PC, a smartphone (including the iPhone), or a tablet.
It’s up to you which device you use, but smartphone devices provide you with the greatest control over your Alexa sound system.
Go to your device’s Wi-Fi connection settings on the device you choose.
You must connect to the signal of your Echo.
The device’s name should be something like Amazon-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Return to the Alexa App once you’ve connected to the Echo’s network.
The Alexa App will take you to the various possible home networks while you’re using it.
This is where you’ll select which network your Echo devices will connect to.
Choose a network to connect to.
It will ask for the password to log in if you have a secured network, which should always be the case.
Allow the Echo to connect to the home network for a brief period.
Your phone should reconnect to your home network, and Alexa should announce “Your Echo is ready” to let you know she’s ready to go.
Use the Amazon App to connect to your Echo.
We can now add more speaker power to your Echo so that it’s ready for base operation.
Out of the box, each Amazon Echo model may connect to one Bluetooth device.
If you simply require one extra speaker per room, you won’t need any further setup.
The Bluetooth connection to an Echo device, on the other hand, allows for only limited functionality.
Set your Echo into Bluetooth pairing mode to connect a Bluetooth device straight to your Echo without the need for extra accessories.
- Open the Alexa application.
- On the upper right, click the sandwich menu button.
- Choose ‘Settings‘ from the drop-down menu.
- Choose the Echo device with which you want to pair a speaker.
- Turn on the pairing mode on your Bluetooth speaker.
- In the Echo device settings, select ‘Bluetooth.‘
- “Pair a New Device” will appear.
- Choose your Bluetooth speaker from the list of options.
When you pair a Bluetooth speaker with an echo device once, it will connect automatically every time you turn it on.
Wires and Adapters
With a few additional adapters and equipment, you can make this process even further.
A 3.5mm auxiliary port on Echo devices can be used to provide some serious audio power.
To make the most of it, you’ll need a few items.
- Transmitter for Bluetooth (preferably one that can manage up to two connections)
- Auxiliary splitter (3.5 mm) (you can add as many as you like, but a five-way splitter should be plenty)
- Non-wired speakers/Bluetooth speakers
- Headphones with Bluetooth (This is more of a fascinating idea than something you’ll need.)
You can add as many auxiliary connections as you desire by using an auxiliary splitter or multi-port adapter.
Without any further configuration, all of your speakers with an AUX connector can be used automatically.
The only real disadvantage is that you’ll need to run AUX wires to each speaker and set up a cable management system.
Using your Bluetooth speakers, though, you may fully prevent this.
The Echo can only associate with one Bluetooth device at a time, as previously stated.
You can connect as many Bluetooth devices as you wish using a Bluetooth transmitter linked to the 3.5 mm auxiliary splitter.
This isn’t the ideal option because audio can lag behind speakers.
Input from Amazon Echo
Amazon has attempted to offer a proprietary option for expanding your Alexa home audio system with additional speakers.
The Echo Input is an Alexa-compatible converter that may be used with any speaker that has a 3.5mm auxiliary connector.
The Echo Input may then be managed in the same way that the Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Show can.
Buying an Input for many speakers is a little more expensive, but it has superior latency management and produces a cleaner result.
Adapters for Auxiliary Devices
You only require size adapters for the auxiliary cable if you want to use higher-powered audio speakers.
Most of the time, a 14″ to 3.5mm copper adapter should suffice.
Multiple Alexa-enabled Speakers Configuration
It’s simple to set up and manage as many Echo devices as you desire using the Alexa App.
All you have to do is go to the ‘Settings‘ menu from the app’s sandwich menu at the top.
The Device list will appear first on the Settings screen. Select “Add a New Device” from the drop-down menu.
Simply follow the steps indicated in the “Pairing Your Echo to the Alexa App” section.
After you’ve set up all of the speakers you want, use the app to organize and manage your setup.
Here’s a brief checklist to help you maintain your workplace clean:
- Keep the speaker names short and sweet. Either call them by their model or by the location where you’ve put them.
- ‘Add Groups‘ for each room where speakers will be installed. Every speaker in each room should be assigned to the appropriate group.
- If you’re primarily utilizing your audio system for music, select ‘Add Multi-room Music Speakers.’
Remember that the names you give your Groups and speakers in the Alexa app will be how they’re recognized for voice commands.
To have Alexa play audio to the correct speakers, you’ll need to memorize the group names.
For instance, you may tell Alexa to “play ___ on My House Speakers.”
Multiple Alexa-enabled Bluetooth Speakers
To summarise, you may use the Alexa app on your smartphone, computer, or tablet to connect all of your Amazon Echo devices to Alexa.
You can connect any Bluetooth speaker or speaker with an auxiliary input to your Alexa home audio system with the Echo Input or a little extra equipment.
Then, with just a few words from Alexa, you can control what audio plays where in your home.
